Add a Misc Destination

A Misc Destination wraps an arbitrary phone number (internal or external) so it can be used as a routing target anywhere FreePBX asks for a destination — IVR, Time Condition, Inbound Route, Ring Group fallback, etc.

Before You Start

  • You know the number you want to dial — internal extension, feature code, or full external number.

Steps

  1. Go to System Attributes → Misc Destinations.
  2. Click Add Misc Destination.
  3. Fill in:
    • Description — e.g. On-Call Cell.
    • Dial — the number to dial. Examples:
      • 1001 — an internal extension
      • 12075551234 — a full PSTN number (must match an outbound route pattern)
      • *98 — voicemail feature code
  4. Click Submit.
  5. Click Apply Config.

Use It

Anywhere FreePBX shows a destination dropdown, you'll now find your label under Misc Destinations.

Verify

Point an Inbound Route at the Misc Destination and place a test call.

Common Issues

  • External call fails. No outbound route matches the dial pattern. Check Trunk Attributes → Outbound Routes.
  • Number dials internally instead of externally. Number conflicts with an internal extension/feature code. Add a 9 prefix or whatever your outbound prefix is.
